Service Description

A natural part of your lawn, thatch is a compact layer of living and dead organic debris, such as leaves and grass clippings, accumulating between the soil and growing turf. When it’s under a half-inch thick, thatch acts as a mulch layer to help conserve moisture and protect the soil. But once the thatch reaches between a half inch to 1 inch, the buildup can have adverse effects on your lawn, blocking water and fertilizer from reaching the roots. It also can be a breeding ground for pests and diseases.
